Thomas R. Thompson, CRM, CIC
Risk Management Consultant

Thomas R."Tom" Thompson, CRM, CIC, is the newest member of the Institute for Crisis Management Senior Consulting Team, offering a new service to ICM clients. He brings 40-years experience in risk management to the staff of ICM.

Prior to joining ICM, Thompson served 10-years as Vice-President Risk Manage-ment/Risk Services at Papa John’s International, headquartered in Louisville, KY

In addition to crisis communication planning, training and consulting, ICM is now offering Risk Management consulting services ranging from:
Identifying risks your business or organization may face, to
Analyzing the potential economic loss that each identified risk may cause
Finding ways to eliminate or minimize the risks that are identified
Determine the best financial tool and cost to pay for those potential losses
Establish risk administration – the implementation and monitoring of risks

Thompson is experienced in identifying risks including: economic, legal, political, social, physical and juridical risks.

He works with representatives of all key departments of an organization to identify what can go wrong, what can be done to eliminate specific risks or minimize their likelihood, and then develop programs or processes or insurance to make the remaining risk manageable.

Before assuming the responsibility for overseeing risk services for the inter-national food service company, Thompson was Middle-Market Practice Leader for Alexander & Alexander in Louisville, KY; Corporate Risk Manager for Allright Parking, based in Houston, TX; Risk Management Consultant for E. H. Crump/Segwick in Memphis, TN.; and for ten years before that, he was with Insurance Agents, Inc., Omaha, NE.

Since 1998 he has taught Certified Risk Management, including Risk Essentials and Risk Administration, for the National Alliance for Insurance and Education Research. He has also taught undergraduate and graduate Risk Management classes at Eastern Kentucky University and workshops on “How to Build a Risk Management Program for the national Risk & Insurance Management Society.

Thompson attended the University of Nebraska and served in the United States Air Force from 1960-1965.
